I’m not sure what the point of this is other than to milk two super franchises, but I guess that is the point. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The Lego Group, Harmonix and MTV Games have announced Lego Rock Band. The title will be available for the usual suspects – PS3, 360, Wii and DS sometime in 2009. The combination of two already family friendly franchises will make for the ultimate family experience – game will not include arguments over who gets to play drums. I have a feeling when this idea came up the first thought wasn’t – “hey, we should make a game that really brings the family together.” More like, ok the Rock Band franchise is getting old – and just dishing out new tracks won’t keep it fresh – and Lego Mad Max doesn’t really ring kid-friendly. There is absolutely no point to this game happening. It’s borderline gimmicky by combining two well known franchises that are approaching the end of their prime. But maybe I’m wrong – maybe I’m also a humpback whale that has an opinion and a water proof laptop.
