I love this type of stuff. Frank Cifaldi, an archivist and founder/board president of The Video Game History Foundation, came across the very first ad for the NES in a January 1985 issue of Consumer Electronics. He, thankfully, shared the discovery plus another gem from the very same mag a few pages earlier. Always fun to see old school ads and their approach. These days with media being shared instantly it’s hard to have the unveiling type of ad. Things always seem to get leaked due to people’s lack of patience. But that’s another article. File under very cool stuff. [via: GameInformer | source: Twitter]
It took five years but I finally found it: the very first advertisement for what became the Nintendo Entertainment System, from late 1984! pic.twitter.com/6r4sv7vSst

But apparently a few pages earlier in the same mag you could get a view of the NES. So much for the surprise.
They’ve got it under a cloth like it’s a surprise but there was a picture of it like five pages ago. pic.twitter.com/HrQ93VRn1e
